Steve Harrison

Well, my history which led to this wondrous opportunity as a business owner is a bit different than you might expect. My career in computers started with art. During my childhood, I was constantly expressing my artistic freedom via comic books and toys. (Not to mention the illustrations of said characters). Drawing became a passion. After taking a Macintosh computer graphics class in high school, I pursued my passion down a path that ultimately earned me a graphic design degree from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1995. During my Junior year at RIT, I bought my first Mac and quickly discovered that along with the production of art, comes a need to troubleshoot software and hardware problems. SCSI bus issues, Photoshop crashes and Norton Utilities quickly became common terms.

After graduating, I moved to Atlanta from Auburn, Maine to take advantage of the design industry career opportunities which the 1996 Olympics were creating. I got a job designing ads for a small publishing company in Norcross. After 3 1/2 years of producing art and learning how to troubleshoot file output problems, the door opened for me to transition into the computer support arena after the Mac tech guy was promoted to a different position. My new passion was discovered quickly. I was actually better at supporting Macs than designing on them!

In 2001, I saw a mousepad from a small Mac support company that had been tucked into a box along with several old computer cables. I looked the company up online and saw that they were hiring. I landed a computer consulting position after interviewing with several people, one of which was my current business partner, Adam! We quickly forged a friendship and discovered a commonality of passion and technique in our industry. After 10 1/2 years (and many years of talking about it) Adam and I finally broke off and started our own venture - Technical Phoenix!
